2024 DeShields Memorial Scholarship
The Rotary Club of Santa Rosa Sunrise proudly presents this scholarship opportunity to Elsie Allen High School Students.
The intent of this Memorial Scholarship is to financially assist a deserving high school senior who has a dream to achieve, the desire to succeed, and diverse interests to pursue. This attitude was typified by Michael Scott DeShields (Montgomery High School, class of 1984).
Michael was a well-rounded high school student who lived and loved life. His grades were above average, but not high enough to receive the attention of most college scholarships. His interests were broad, and he had the will and determination to be successful in pursuing his goal to be a chef.
The student selected for this scholarship will: demonstrate a respect for others, express a joy of living, have a passion for exploring possibilities, and be willing to work hard to attain their goal, even in the face of adversity.
In memory of Michael, this scholarship is dedicated and presented with the hope that, the person selected, given this opportunity, will make a difference by contributing notably to their chosen vocation, their community, and advancing peace and understanding.
